International Air Transport Association (IATA) observes the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation
Regulation for transporting samples of animal origin
Regulation (EC) No. 1774/2002
institution sending the sample must have an Article 18 approval by the Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (nVWA, nieuwe Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit)
receiving institute must have an Article 23 approval by the nVWA
accompanied by commercial document
When sending Animal By-products:
Package according to ADR or IATA.
On the outside of the package in addition to the mandatory UN text also mention the following:
“Animal by-products for research and diagnosis”
Ask the receiving party for an approval number according to EU regulation 1069/2009
The courier must have an approval number for the transport of Cat. I material.
Add a trade document to the shipment. This document can be obtained from the BSO.
Waste:
Closed, leak-proof, break-proof containers; outside must be disinfected
