Transmembrane Proteins, Golgi, COP Flashcards
Transmembrane protein get integrated into a membrane by the mechanisms
Signal pass transmembrane proteins
After a protein is fully synthesized and folded, what are the two things that can happen?
1) It can be released in the ER lumen if it has the postal code for the region
2) The proteins can be transported to the golgi complex for more development so it can go function outside the cell
What is the function of the golgi?
It sorts the proteins and lipids to other organelles
It is involved in the synthesis of polysaccharides
Which golgi network is proximal to the membrane?
cis-golgi network
Which golgi network is distal to the membrane?
trans-golgi network
What does the cis-golgi network do?
Sorting station
What does the trans-golgi network do?
Sorts protein into different types of vesicles
After being sorted by the trans-golgi network, where do the vesicles go?
To the plasma membrane or other intracellular destinations
Where are fully processed proteins going?
Trans-golgi network
What are the 2 functions of coat proteins?
1) Helps form the vesicle
2) Helps select cargo
COP 1 proteins move in which direction?
Golgi to the ER in the Retrograde direction
COP 2 proteins move in which direction?
ER to the Golgi in the anterograde direction
