Translational motion Flashcards
What is the difference between vectors and scalars
A vector is a quantity with direction and a scalar is a quantity with no direction.
What are some examples of vectors
Displacement, Force, Weight
What are some examples of scalars
Speed, Distance, Time
How do you convert between radians and degrees
Use conversion rules.
Whats the difference between frequency and periods?
Frequency is how many times a “thing” occurs per second, A period is the number of seconds it takes to do a “thing”
When is momentum conserved?
When no outside forces are applied
Is energy always conserved?
Yes
Is kinetic energy always conserved?
no
What is work, what is its unit?
The energy used when moving an object over a distance with force. Its unit is in joules (J)
What does ^ (triangle) mean?
“Change in”
What is the formula for the circumference?
Circumference = 2(pi)r
What does w mean, and what is its unit?
Angular speed, units: radians per second
