Translation Flashcards
A site
Acceptor site- where tRNA matches up to codon and checked to see if the anticodon and codon matches
tRNA
Transport amino acids to ribosome
P site
Peptide bonds
Amino acid is dropped off and bonds with peptide bond to previous amino acid
E site
Exit
tRNA, without its amino acid is released from ribosome
1
Small subunit attaches to start codon AUG on mRNA
2
tRNA comes ( the p site) and large subunit assembles to small subunit and tRNA
3
Another tRNA carrying an amino acid arrive in a site
4
4 ribosome moves one codon over in 3’ direction the first tRNA is now in e site and second in p site. The second tRNA drops off its amino acid and it binds to first amino acid(methionine) with peptide bond
5
At the stop codon, ribosome disassembles and polypeptide is released
