Define transgender.
A person who’s gender and sense of personal identity doesn’t correspond with their birth sex.
Define transsexual.
A person who transitions from one sex to another through the use of hormones/surgery.
Define transman.
Female at birth, transitioned to a man.
Define transwoman.
Male at birth, transitioned to a female.
Define transvestite.
Cross dresses without altering body.
Define non-binary gender identity.
Neither male or female - either neither, both or a combination.
What is transsexualism?
The desire to live and be accepted as a member of the opposite sex.
What is dual-role transvestism?
Wearing clothes of the opposite sex without desire for a ore permanent sex change.
What is fetishistic transvestism?
The wearing of clothes of the opposite sex principally to obtain sexual excitement and create the image of a person from the opposite sex.
What is gender identity disorder of childhood?
Persistent and intense stress about assigned sex with the desire to be (or insist that one is) the opposite sex.
What are the risks of testosterone?
Polycythaemia, liver dysfunction, increased risk for CV disease, increased weight, diabetes and mental health disturbance.
What are the risks of oestrogen?
Increased risk for VTE, increased weight, bp and risk for breast cancer.
