24
Q

Anti-I is associated with which infection?

A

mycoplasma pneumoniae

25
Q

Anti-i is associated with which infection?

A

26
Q

Which antibody is most commonly associated with delayed HTR?

A

Kell

27
Q

An 80 year old patient who has been receiving regular transfusion every 3 months for the past 4 years, shows signs of a newly formed antibody. The patient has high titers but you get weak reactions across the board. What are you suspecting, and should you worry?

A

HTLA anti-b
- Not significant just a nuisance when determining presence of antibodies.

28
Q

Which phenotype red cell is more resistant to malaria?

A

Fy (a-b-)

29
Q

You discover an Anti-f in your patient and they require units. What units should you be giving them and why?

A

c negative units, because anti-f is formed in the presence of both e and c antigens. 98% of the population have anti-e meaning units negative of e is much more difficult to find. As long as the patient is only transfused with one or neither of the e/c antigens.
