Basic transfers?
Independent, assisted, dependent.
While transferring a patient, PTA 1 puts fourth 23% of the effort and PTA puts fourth 27%; What is the assist level?
With PTAs putting fourth 60% of the effort, the patient is putting fourth 40%, the assist level is max.
Assist levels?
1 Total or dependent>25%
2 Maximum (max); patient expends 25-49% of effort. ↓ - Decreased.
3 Moderate Assistance (mod); patient expends 50-74% of effort. ↑ - Increased.
4 Minimal Assistance (min); patient expends 75% or more of effort
What should you document about transfers?
1Type, 2 devices used, 3 verbal/tactile (tc) cues 4 time it takes, 5how many people assisted, 6 consistency.
What is the difference between a standing dependent/assisted pivot?
Standing pivot assisted takes at least one person helping, dependent (with one person helping) assisted (takes at least 25-75% effort from the patient).
What 6 things should you check in the chart before xfering a patient?
1Check chart, 2 meds, 3 comorbidities, 4 orders, 5 Notes from others, 6 Which is the strongest LE
7 things do do while in the room before performing a transfer?

Hip precautions (5)?
1 0 flex >90 degrees, 2 0 adduction beyond the mid line, 3 no extension beyond neutral. 4 0 pulling, 5 0 lying on affected hip.
