What is catholic reformation?
Was a movement to revive churches repetition and membership rules. The Catholic Church responded forcefully to the Protestant Rebellions and gain back some control.
What was the new religion?
Jesuits was a new religion order that went all over Europe convincing many to return to the church
What were the biggest consequences of the catholic reformation?
The church had many people did their own reading on Christianity in the Bible and made their own decision
What was the 30 year war?
A war that broke out in 1618 and ended in 1648 was a religious war between Protestants and Catholics spread through France and eventually the whole Roman Empire. It ended in 1648 with the Treaty of Westphalia that allowed principalities and cities that chose their own religion
What were the 4 inter related changes that helped Europe rise?
- Important culture changes: Renaissance artistic development Enlightenment ( Philosophical movement, people rights) and Reformation ( Christan movement) allowed them to escape social and intellectual bongoures of the middle ages.
- Political consolidation of strong centralized states: kings had enough power to control all
- Technology advances and development of capitalism: made new Industrial Technologies that did not require human labor like painting press and mills
Cultural changes in Europe?
The crusades of the 12 and 13th centuries started a movement of European knights to the Middle East that simulated change that benefit Venice and Genoa and grew them wealthy
What was the Italian renaissance?
Resonance happened to begin with and Italy was an intellectual Artistic and culture flourishing. Emphasis on modern learning thoughts was reflected through painting and art. Rebirth, Supporters, the northern renaissance was more religious, printing press
