Biological Theory in trait theories
Criminal behavior is caused by some mechanism or factor which is internal to the individual
Pure biological perspective:
criminal behavior is primarily a result of biological factors, such as genetic abnormalities or neurological impairments.
Soft Biological perspective:
recognizes the significance of environmental and social factors in shaping behavior
What factors did Physiognomy study to predict criminality?
It claimed that certain physical traits were indicative of criminal tendencies.
ex: facial features and body proportions.
What factors did Phrenology study to predict criminality?
Aimed to predict criminality and other personality traits based on the shape and contours of the skull. It claimed that different areas of the brain were responsible for specific traits and behaviors.
