What is the premise of Code of the Streets?
Crime is higher in lower-class communities because the code of the streets forces everyone to obey street culture, which is inherently violent
What does the Code of the Streets focus on primarily?
Respect
What are decent values?
Decent values are those committed to middle-class values with mainstream goals and expectations of behavior. They teach their kids these values.
What are street values?
These values oppose decent values. They are centered around respect and how you should act to not be disrespectful and how to respond when you are disrespected.
What do people who are raised with decent values have to do when they are operating in their area that follows street codes?
They have to code-switch between both values.
