training types Flashcards
what is circuit training?
flexible form of training that is organised to train many different components of fitness
advantages of circuit training (3)
flexible and intensity can be chosen
can be varied to suit age and fitness level
easy to monitor and make more intense by altering work to rest ratio
disadvantage of circuit training
a lot of space may be required
specialist equipment may be required
difficult to gauge an appropriate work to rest ratio at the start
what is continuous training?
continuous training is intended to work the aerobic energy system
advantages of continuous training (4)
can be done with little to no equipment
improves aerobic fitness
can be done anywhere
simple to do
disadvantages of continuous training (4)
can be boring/tedious
can cause injury due to repetitive contractions
it can be time-consuming
it does not always match the demands of the sport
what is the aerobic training zone
60-80% of max heart rate
what is farther training
used mainly to train cardiovascular endurance but is more varied than continuous training and is also known as ‘speed play’
what does fart leak training involve?
speed alterations
exercises incorporated
running on different terrains
altering the intensity eg. aerobic and anaerobic
what is interval training eg HITT
interval training is the name given to any training that alternates period of work with periods of rest
advantages of HITT (3)
burns calories and body fast quickly
can be altered to suit the individual
can improve the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems
disadvantages of HITT
extreme work can lead to injury
high levels of motivation are required as it is strenuous
can lead to dizziness and nausea
