What are some investigations for toxoplasmosis in pregnancy?
Bloods: IGM, IgG
USS: Fetal abnormality scan
Other: Amniocentesis to detect fetal infection
What is the management for toxoplasmosis in pregnancy?
ABX: Spiramycin (reduces vertical tranmsission)
Termination: May offer TOP if USS evidence of fetal infection
What are the complications associated with toxoplasmosis in pregnancy? What is the prognosis of toxoplasmosis in pregnancy?
Miscarriage, PTL, fetal death, congenital toxoplasmosis (hydrocephalus, retinochondtiritis, intracranial calcifications, IUGR, Heptaosplenomegaly, Thrombocytopenia, rash)
PGX depends on severity of congential toxoplasmosis.
