Describe a method for the production of monoclonal antibodies (6)

A

1) A mouse is vaccinated to start the formation of antibodies

2) Antibodies are formed in the spleen, these cells are collected from the mouse.

3) antibiotics from the spleen cell are removed and fused to myeloma cells. Myeloma cells are rapid growing.

4) This produces a hybrid cell.

5) These cells can be grown in culture in a lab, until there are lots.

6) Cells and antibodies can be seperated.

7) antibodies can be used in pregnancy tests.
