Why did Lloyd George’s mind change?

A

Because he realised that Britains economic revival depended on the revival of Europe’s economy which depended on Germany’s revival.
Germany needed to be strong to block communism
The Rhineland needed to be German so that Britain and Germany could trade at the same rate as the Rhineland contained lots of German industry.
With a very harsh treaty Germany would seek revenge
With a very harsh treaty France would become very powerful and Britain may no longer be a world power
