Tourniquet factors
Note the time tourniquet was placed
Need to check tourniquet on fingers 20 mins
Limb tourniquets check every 30 mins
Tourniquet max time
1 hour - release every 2 hours

Mark the area, circumference, pulse on on affected extremity
Cap and pulse check
Immobilize and keep below level of heart
CBC coags fibrinogen, CPK BMP and UA - xray for retained teeth
Tetanus
What is not recommended with snake bites
No tourniquets - if placed in out of hospital setting - can give antivenom
No suctioning
No Abx
Crofab - only used for
Rattle, Coral and pit vipers - if random pet - need to call zoo - ( they keep antivenom)
When do you give crofab - when is this contraindicated
rattlesnake or coral snakes - dont give if papaya allergy - absolute contraindication
True or false copperhead bites not associated with significant mortality
