1. sprinkle seeds on damp sponge and allow to germinate
2. when they are starting to unfold their little seed leaves then you do the experiment
3. make up agar and pour into a McCartney bottle at a height of 2cm and allow to set
4. cut the tops off the plant just below the shoot apex, whats left is called the explant
5. push the stem of the explant into the gel
6. cover with clingfilm and place on a sunny window sill
7. observe over ten days
