Describe the basic use of a helmet for treating plagiocephaly?

A

Early intervention is crucial. Change positions often. Use Helmet if older than 3 months and repositioning is not affective. Worn 23 hrs a day. Adjusted weekly or bi-weekly. Treatment lasts 3-4 months.

  • Age of diagnosis
  • Fibrous mass present at initial diagnosis.
  • ROM (the more restricted the worse the prognosis)
  • Support (family or caregiver)
  • Distance to a clinic
