water: converts oxygen when it donates electrons to the ETC
anaerobic PS I: uses hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen gas, or Fe2+ as electron donor in ETC
anaerobic PS II: electrons move from chlorophyll to other carriers, back to chlorophyll (leads to production of proton motif force)
