- Long term, a lack of physical movement can lead to insufficient strength and fitness which are important to have as a preventative measure against condititions such as obesity/overweight
Injury (youth health and wellbeing issues/concerns) and its impact on social health and wellbeing
- it can limit social interactions
- Being injured can mean that you are unable to attend certain activities and social events, which will reduce your ability to communicate with others and have meaningful interactions with others
Injury
Contributing factors - reasons for youth issue
(youth health and wellbeing issues/concerns)
Young people can be injured on the roads, whilst socialising, whilst participating in sport or workplace.
The over-representation of young people in transport-related accidents can be linked to risky behaviours including speeding, driving when fatigued, and driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs
Increased incidence of sporting injuries is thought to be the result of earlier specialisation of a younger age, longer sporting seasons and more intense training.
When young people start their first job, they may be required to perform duties for which they have not received training. The likelihood of injuries or illnesses increase when dangerous equipment is being used
