What is an ecosystem ?
A
An ecosystem is a functional unit that tends to be fairly self-sustaining. So lake remains a lake and a wood remains a wood and so on.

What is a habitat?
A
Within an ecosystem there can be many habitats. A habitat can be thought of literally as the place with a distinct set of conditions where an organism lives.

What is a population?
A
Each population is a group of interbreeding individuals of the same species found in an area.

A
The various populations sharing a habitat or an ecosystem make up a community.
