Vet Admin rules

A

Aim - prevent import of agent, localisation of the disease, prevent spreading and eliminate it

notifiable; if you think you have diagnosed a notifiable disease, must inform local official vet, who will examine and confirm –> case must be reported

International transport - vaccination certs, pet passports

Certs, traceability

Import restrictions, only healthy animals can be imported

Maternal Immunity - Passive immunisation

A

mammals, obtain maternal ab via colostrum, birds via yolk

IG important in first 2 weeks, as immune response not active until 5th well

Placental types

A

Eq, ru, su have Epitheliochorial. IG cannot pass placenta, only through colostrum

Sheep : mainly colostrum, they have one layer less than epi

Dogs and cats ; endotheliochorial
- transplacentla and colostrum, but most through colostrum

calves, 0% absorbed at 27 hours also
