Managers of factories replaced with unskilled people. Shortage of trains to move raw material as Red Guards could use them for free. Industry fell by 13%

How did the Cultural Revolution affect people’s lives?

A

EDUCATION: 1% had a degree (1982 census)
FAMILY: Weakened as children reported on their parents, and family was part of 4 Olds.
RELIGION: Public worship forbidden. Priests sent to Laogai.
CULTURE: Jiang Qing ruined culture. Nothing of artistic value - people scared. Strict censorship.
