RESOLUTION
The patient and the nurse explore the experience and the needs of the patient which leads to a feeling of relatedness.
IDENTIFICATION
The patient earns independence over his care as he gradually puts aside old goals and formulates new ones.
RESOLUTION
In this phase, the patient derives the full value of the relationship as he moves on from a dependent role to an independent one.
EXPLOITATION
The initial interaction between the nurse and the patient wherein the latter has a felt need and expresses the desire for professional assistance.
ORIENTATION

STRANGER RESOURCE PERSON TEACHER LEADER SURROGATE COUNSELOR
As the patient assumes a dependent role, the nurse provide specific answers to his queries which includes health information’s, advices and a simple explanation of the health care team’s course of care.
RESOURCE PERSON
The nurse must act in behalf of the patient’s best interest and at the same time enable him to make decisions over his own care.
LEADER
The nurse received much importance for self-care and in helping him understand the therapeutic plan.
TEACHER
The nurse attempts to know the patient better, she must treat him with outmost courtesy, which includes acceptance of the patient as a person and due respect in to his individuality
STRANGER
The patient’s dependency for his care gives the nurse a temporary care giver role.
SURROGATE
The greatest importance and emphasis in nursing. The nurse becomes a listening friend, an understanding family member and someone who gives sounds and emphatic advices.
COUNSELOR
The “First Lady of Nursing” and the “First Truly International Nurse.”
