Where on person is treated less favorably than another person would have been treated in a similar situation based on race, gender or ethnicity etc.

Define Indirect Discrimination?

A

Where a company, organisation or institutions puts into place a policy that appears to treat everyone equally but in practice leads to the treatment of one group less favorably.

This is not always very obvious.

Who do health ineq’s effect?

Examples.

A

Rich and Poor Nations.

There is a clear gradient between richest and poorest in a population.

Examples:

Average LE of 80 years in some countries vs. 50 years in some African countries.

In UK - wealthy London LE = 80 years, vs Low income Glasgow = 55 years.

Define Health inequality? vs Health inequities?

A

Any difference between health status between one group and another.

Any difference between health status that is in theory remedial and is therefore unjust or unfair.

Example: access to health clinical in HI area vs. low income area.
