Topic 3 - Genetics Flashcards
1
Q
What does DNA stand for?
A
Deoxyribonucleic acid
2
Q
Describe Transcription and Translation
A
Transcription - RNA polymerise comes to the nucleus and creates an mRNA complementary copy of the unzipped DNA
Translation - mRNA goes to the ribosome in the cytoplasm and binds to it. tRNA comes along and finds specific amino acids, which then get held together by peptide bonds. tRNA and mRNA then leaves and the chain of amino acids fold to form a protein.
