- you can see how they approach a problem mentally for example if they give up easily.
- it may be irrelevant to the work they will do in the company.
Ads and said of interviews in recruitment
- can see how people are face to face.
- however people could act unnaturally
Ads and disads of group tasks in recruitment
- you can see how they work in a team
- however one person could take over.
Written communication:
- E.G. letter, website, social media
- ads: professional, formal, helped by internet.
- disads: takes more time, cant ask quick questions.
Verbal communication
E.G. telephone
- ads: cheap, quick
- disads: not formal, not written down so cant reference it, lack of detail?
Graphical communication.
E.G. charts, graphs
- ads: easy to compare, shows numbers and data clearly.
- disads: not always ideal or need to be used, take some time.
Two way communication
One person communicates, and then the other receive then responds.
Horizontal communication
Communication between people on the same level in the business.
- E.G. teamwork in shop assistants.
Vertical communication
Communication between two different authority levels.
Formal communication
Proper and official way to communicate in a pro manor often verticals communication to higher up in the business.
External communication
Communication from a person inside the business to out.
One way communication
Someone communicating or telling something to a receiver who doesn’t give a response.
Informal communication
Casual form of communicating often verbal.
Internal communication
Communication from inside the business to one another.
Poor communication
Not effective, where the receiver doesn’t get the right message, often with too much or too little detail.
Centralised business
Where there is a person at the top and all rescissions will be made by them.
Decentralised business
Where departments have authority to made decisions as a team.
Span of control
Number of people DIRECTLY under you.
Chain of command
Number of layers in the business.
Delegate
To give over responsibility to others
Authority
The power to made decisions
Subordinate
Someone who answers to you
Line manager
