E.G - introduce staff and work space, how to use technology.
Why use inductions?
- reduces anxiety
- helps new member of staff start immediately.
- person is more likely to stay
- good for productivity.
On the job training
A superviser or co-worker trains you while you work.
Off the job training
Get sent to a college or training centre where a pro trainer trains you.
On the job advantages
- Can ask questions
- very relevant
- still get work done.
On the job disadvantages
- boss losses time.
- accidents can happen
- boss isn’t a good trainer
Off the job advantages
- its good training by a trainer, they know o job to do it.
- sometimes get a qualification
- builds confidence and productivity
Off the job disadvantages
- expensive
- could be irrelevant
- could lead to a lack of induction

LONG TERM, investment into someone’s career. They trained to meet the needs of their job.
Advantages of developing staff.
- saves recruiting
- they can do many jobs
- motivates them
- multi-skilled worker
- gain a great member of staff.
