Q

How does nuclear power generate electricity?

A

Thermal energy from the reaction is transferred into water. Which turns the water into steam. The steam is then makes the turbine spin and the turbine generates electricity.

Q

What is nuclear fusion?

A

Nuclear fusion happens when small nuclei join together to form larger ones. This makes very large amounts of energy and is a very sustainable method of producing near infinite energy.

Q

What are the three types of nuclear waste?

A
High Level Waste (HLW)
- Stored for 50 years
Intermediate Level Waste (ILW)
-Remains radioactive for 10's of 1000's of years
Low Level Waste (LLW)
-It is buried in special landfill sites
