unofficial jobs, don’t get taxed, no company or employment rights or comtracts
what is the formal economy?
official jobs, meets legal standards, is taxed

former industrial areas that have been developed on before
what is regeneration?
redeveloping former industrial or housing areas to improve them
3 reasons why Mumbai is a mega city
india’s second biggest port, its location makes it closer to europe, air traffic and international airport is important
why is there rural-urban migration in mumbai?
lack of jobs in rural areas, better education, higher income
what did vision mumbai hope to do?
destroy slums and instead build low cost apartments, improve air quality, improve transport, build extra public toilets etc etc
why didn’t people like vision mumbai?
rent is more expensive than the slums, they’d rather have slum improvements than demolition, small workshops and businesses could be destroyed
