“Temptation” is
a strong urge or desire to have or do something
“To yield” means
to agree to do or accept something that you have been resisting : to stop trying to resist or oppose something
Time perspective is
how we divide the flow of our experienceinto time zones or time categories
“Abstinence” means
the practice of not doing or having something that is wanted or enjoyable
“To anticipate” means
to think of (something that will or might happen in the future) and (usually) to prepare for it
Cost-benefit analysis
Weighing the pros and the cons of doing something and choosing that which is rationally better
A “paradox” refers to
a person, thing or situation that has two opposite features and therefore seems strange ex. “Is the answer to this question ‘No’?”
“Hedonism” is
the belief that pleasure is the most important thing in life
“Fatalism” is
the belief that events are decided by fate and that you cannot control them
“Transcendental” means
going beyond the limits of human knowledge, experience or reason, especially in a religious or spiritual way
“Optimum” means
(also optimal) the best possible; producing the best possible results
“Sacrifice” means
giving up something important or valuable to you in order to get or do something that seems more important
