Is a chemical that burns to release energy
How is coal formed?
Millions of years ago plants died and fell to the bottom of swamps. Over time layers of earth fell on top of the plants which rotted in the absence of oxygen. The pressure of the earth compressed the plants turning it into peat then coal
How is crude oil formed?
Millions of years ago plankton died and fell to the bottom of the sea. Over time layers of earth fell on top of the plants which rotted in the absence of oxygen. The pressure of the earth compressed the plants turning it into crude oil and natural gas
What is a hydrocarbon
A substance which contains hydrogen and carbon only
What is produced in complete combustion
Carbon dioxide and water
