Describe the following social institutions: family, education, political institutions, religion. How do these institutions shape culture? What are some ways that these institutions can differ from culture to culture?

A

Family- is first and primary; interpret norms, teach, values. Family norms differ.

Education- The type of institutions, the context, the instructions.

Government- Forms of Gov. (democracy, monarchy etc.), Shapes laws, social services, punishment etc.

They teach others how to act in a respectable way and focus on social order within the culture by influencing them.
