Topic 13 Orbital Vessels Flashcards
what is the blood supply of the cornea?
Periphery supplied by limbal blood vessels (which is an anterior ciliary artery branch)
what is the blood supply of the uveal tract?
Long posterior ciliary arteries supply the choroid
Short posterior ciliary arteries supply the choroid and sclera
Iris & ciliary body: Major arterial circle which consists of 2 long posterior arteries and 7 short anterior arteries.
what is the blood supply of the sclera? (Anteriorly, posteriorly and episcelra)
Anteriorly: long posterior ciliary arteries
Posteriorly: circle of Haller-Zinn
(short posterior ciliary arteries)
Episclera: Anterior ciliary arteries
what is the blood supply of the retina?
Inner Retina: Supplied by the Central Retinal Artery (and Vein)
Outer Retina: photoreceptors and the RPE are supplied by the choriocapillaris underneath (branches of the ciliary arteries)
what is the 2 blood supplies of the conjunctiva?
Anterior ciliary arteries, Lacrimal artery
what is the blood supply of the eyelids? (General: 3, LPS: +2, OO:+1)
Medial palpebral artery, Lacrimal artery, facial artery
LPS muscle: Supraorbital artery, muscular arteries
Orbicularis oculi muscle: Supraorbital artery
what is the blood supply of the eyebrows?
Supraorbital artery, Supratrochlear artery
what is the 2 blood supplies of the lacrimal apparatus?
lacrimal artery (lacrimal gland)
medial palpebral artery
what is the 2 blood supplies of the muscles of the forehead?
Supratrochlear artery, Supraorbital artery
what is the blood supply of the EOM? (General, SR and SO:+1, IR and IO:+1)
All EOM are supplied by the muscular branches of the ophthalmic artery
SR and SO: Supraorbital artery
IR and IO: Infraorbital artery
what is the blood supply of the optic nerve?
short posterior ciliary artery
what is the blood supply of the globe and adnexa?
Ophthalmic artery
