TOPIC 11: EQUILIBRIUM II Flashcards
1
Q
When is Kp used?
A
Kc is used to calculate equilibria for gases
2
Q
What is the equation for mole fraction
A
number of moles/total number of moles
3
Q
Define Total pressure
A
The total pressure of a gas mixture is the sum of all partial pressures of the individual gas
4
Q
Difference between Kc and Kp
A
- Kp measures the equlibria using partial pressure whereas Kc uses molar concentration.
- Kc concentrations are surrounded by square brackets whereas in Kp they are round brackets.
5
Q
What do you have to do when working out equilibrium constant for Heterogeneous equilibria
A
cross out p(compound) for any state of matter that is not gas
