- Huge hotel blocks built (changed character) –> hight limit of approx 2 stories, builders must use specific materials to blend in with traditional housing
- Transport links (need to be payed for) -> new network of roads - toll booths. Airport was built with taxes
- Huge water shortage -> Dam built in 1975 and reservoir water pumped down when needed. water is reused on crops. water treatment plan installed in 1982
- litter - putting chemicals into sea. more litter bins supplied and beaches cleaned at night
- traffic congestion- toll booths people are less likely to use roads. access of centre is restricted roads now boulevards and tourists encouraged to walk
