Why did the Franco-Russian Dual Alliace come about?
Kaiser Wilhelm the second had made it clear that he didn’t favour close relations with Russia.
Both France and Russia felt isolated from Europe.
France still wanted to get revenge on Geremany for the defeat in 1871 and wanted Alsace-Lorraine back.
Russia was in need of a loan to help develop her economy.
Why did the Entente Coridale come about?
Britain felt increasingly isolated, especially becuase Germany had declined to sign and agreement in the years 1900-02 limiting naval exoansion.
There was increasing naval rivalary between Germany and Britain due to German naval expansion.
France still wanted revenge on Germany and wanted Alsace-Lorraine back.
Britain wanted to stop France interence in Egypt and the French wanted a free hand to expand in Morocco.
What were the important effects of the Entente Cordiale?
Kaiser Wilhelm was suspicious of the agreement and wanted to break it up.
It encouraged French expansion in Morocco.
Anglo-French relations became closer and so by the year 1914, the two countires even planned how to ight a future war against Germany.
