cyclicity
copulation
pregnency
postpartum recovery/ lactation
Describe puberty
after critical size of body is reached that body undergoes the hypothalamus and pituitary gland produces hormones whitch enables the repro systems functionality.
Describe cyclicity
the estrous cycle whitch commonly exhibits heat (behavioural) and had follicular phase, ending in the luteal phase.
describe Copulation
The sperm and egg meet and fertilization occurs, then the development of the embryo follows.
Decribe Pregnancy
As the embryo begins to develop the embryo sends biological signals notifying the body of pregnancy, if failed it results in termination of the embryo. If successful the fetus will attach to the uterus forming a placenta that monitors the exchange of nutrients and gas as well and producing hormones crucial for gestation.
describe the Postpartum recovary / lactation in the reproductive cylce
After parturition the mother begins to lactate, this provides nutrients for the offspring to develop. During this period so does puerperium occur (uterine ovulation occurs and returns to cyclicity).
why is this important to study reproduction
Global population is increasing to meet this new demand for food so should our farming efficiency rate and product.
