Top 3 - Particle Model of Matter Flashcards
What is the formula for finding density?
Density (kg/m(3)) = mass (kg) ÷ volume (m(3))
Briefly describe an experiment to find the density of a liquid.
While measuring individually pour 10ml of liquid into the measuring cylinder and record the liquids mass then keep repeating this until cylinder is full then for each measurement do the formula, then take an average.
What is internal energy?
Internal energy of a system is the total energy that its particles have in their kinetic and potential energy stores.
Name five changes of state.
Sublimating - Solid to Gas Evaporating Condensing Freezing Melting
Define specific latent heat.
Specific latent heat is the amount of energy that an object needs to have a change of state.
Give the formula for specific latent heat.
Energy (E) = Mass (m) x Specific Latent Heat (L)
