Too much: Helps muscles heal quicker. Extra protein not being used as energy will be stored as fat- causing weight gain. Long term risk is obesity.
Too little: longer time for muscle injuries to heal. Long term risk is poor growth in children- stunted growth.

Too little: tiredness due to no energy. Long term could lead to weight loss and extreme fatigue.
