Q

Define wing low side slipping

A

align the airplane’s heading with the centerline of the runway, note the rate and direction of drift, and promptly apply drift correction by lowering the upwind wing. When the wing is lowered, the airplane tends to turn in that direction. To
compensate for the turn, it is necessary to simultaneously apply sufficient opposite rudder pressure to keep the airplane’s longitudinal axis

Q

Strobe light

A

Located on each wing tip - flash a white-colored light are located on each wingtip. These flashing lights are very bright and intended to attract attention during flight

7
Q

Describe runway crosswind corrections

A

we want to takeoff with full aileron crosswind correction into the wind and then as our airspeed increases on the takeoff roll we need to let the crosswind wind correction slowly come out in order for us us to rotate with the yoke neutral as far as crosswind correction is concerned.

15
Q

Define Touchdown Point

A

It is defined as an intended point where the main wheels will set down on the ground. ATP recommends that this point be within 1000’ from the aiming point = within 5 stripes down the runway.

16
Q

What is PAPI and what do lights mean

A

Precision Approach Path Indicator Lights
provides visual glide slope guidance in non-precision approaches environment. These systems have an effective visual range of at least 3 miles during the day and up to 20 miles at night. The row of light units is normally installed on the left side of the runway

two red and two white when on proper glide path angle of approach.
Light combinations indicate when slightly high 3 white 1 red
significantly high 4 white 4 white dots
slightly low 3 red 1 white
significantly low 4 red

17
Q

What is TPA

A

TPA is 1060´because altimeter is MSL

18
Q

What is the appropriate way to break on the ground?

A

Never break with throttle in

19
Q

Beacon light

A

Part of Cessna exterior lighting located on top of the vertical fin it is part of the anti collision system. We turn this on before starting the engine

20
Q

Cessna 172 S Approved Fuel Grade and Color

A

100 LL Grade Aviation Fuel Blue

100 Grade Aviation Fuel Green

21
Q

Define aiming point

A

It is the point on the ground at which, if the airplane maintains a constant glide path and was not flared for landing, it would strike the ground

22
Q

Max Ramp

A

2,558 lbs

23
Q

Define crabbing

A

The crab method is executed by establishing a heading (crab) toward the wind with the wings level so that the airplane’s ground track remains aligned with the centerline of the runway. This crab angle is maintained until just prior to touchdown

24
Q

Maximum Demonstrated Crosswind

A

15 kts

25
Q

Describe proper way to touchdown (which wheel comes down first)?

A

Upwind Wheel first, then downwind wheel second, nose wheel last.

26
Q

Max GTW Utility

A

2,200 lbs

27
Q

Engine Failure Immediately After Takeoff

A

Maintain control Land on remaining runway or within 30 degrees of centerline. Avoid obstacles do not attempt 180 degree turn

Airspeed - Lower nose pitch for best glide
Flaps - As required
Power - As available
Time Permitting - Declare an Emergency
Fuel Shut off Valve - Pull out/Off
Ignition Switch- Off
Flaps - As Required (40 degrees recommended)
Master switch - Off
Doors - Unlatch
28
Q

Taxi light

A

This light is typically turned on whenever the aircraft is in motion on the ground for greater visibility during taxi, takeoff, and landing.
