What does TENR stand for?
T - Threat
E - Exposure
N - Necessity
R - Response
TENR: Define “Threat”
A person or thing likely to cause damage or danger
TENR: Define Exposure
Who/what is exposed to the threat?
What is the potential harm?
TENR: Define Necessity
The necessity to the act now, later or not at all
TENR: Define Response
Any response must be timely, proportionate and appropriate which is based on a considered risk assessment of threat, exposure and necessity.
What is the biggest factor that causes Police officers to get injured and put in danger?
Complacency
A sense of contentment, over confidence or self satisfaction.

- Cooperative

Describe a subjects behavior when cooperative
There is a cooperative and willing response to a police officers lawful request or direction.
Describe a subjects behavior when passively resistant
The subject refuses, with little or no physical action, to cooperate with the officers lawful direction.
Describe a subjects behavior when actively resistant
This is identified as increased scope and intensity of resistance beyond simple verbal defiance.
Describe a subjects behavior when assualtive
This is identified as actively hostile behavior accompanied by physical actions or an intent, expressed either verbally and/or through body language to cause physical harm
Subject behavior when “GBH or Death”
The subject exhibits actions that the officer believes are intended to, or likely to cause grievous bodily harm or death to any person.
What does PCA stand for

- It is your subjective assessment, and continuous reassessment of an incident, using TOF/TENR.
