lung damage, cardiovascular disease, allergic reactions to the smoke from burning tobacco; babies of women exposed to secondhand smoke during pregnancy are more likely to be born prematurely; children of smokers are more likely to have upper respiratory infections, asthma, bronchitis, and inner-ear infections
