Breathing & Ventilation 4 Assessments

Post-Intubation 4 Rules
-Observe for chest rise/fall with breaths
-Attach CO2 detector and after 5-6 breaths assess for +CO2 (gold)
-Auscultate epigastrum for gurgling (in stomach)
-Document measure to teeth and handoff to RT
Circulation 2 Rules + 1 Tx
-Inspect AND palpate skin for color, temp, moisture
-Palpate pulse
+Warmed isotonic crystalloid w/ blood tubing @ controlled bolus
Disability 1 Rule
(Neuro checks)
Check blood glucose
Exposure 1 Rule + 1 Tx
Remove all clothing and inspect for obvious injuries
+Provide warmth with (any) blankets, room temp, warmed fluids/lights

-HEENT - inspect AND palpate
-I, A, P chest (lungs and ❤️)
-I, A, P abd + (P) all 4 quadrants
-I, P flanks
-I, P pelvis (downward/medially)
-Gentle pressure to symphysis pubic
-I, perineum
-Appropriateness of foley? if blood to meatus consult to URO
I, P - all 4 extremities
