___ pairs of spinal nerves
31
24 moveable
vertebrate
x-ray is a ___ dimensional presentation of a ___ dimensional reality
2, 3
x-ray can only show what is going one when?
exactly when the x-ray is taken…. by the time the lines are drawn, patient walks over to the table and sits down, the spine changes
acupuncture points can effect _____ and subluxations can affect_____
joints/subluxation, acupuncture points
3 things you need to practice AK
- Muscle test
- Therapy localization
- Challenge
What TL effect and what can it do?
effects the central integrative state which allows for 1.inhibited muscle strong 2. strong muscle weak
Strong indicator muscle
muscle that is strong/normotonic when there is no additional input to the nervous system
TL tell you ____ not ____
where
what
two theories about TL (first one)
The act of touching is either adding or subtracting energy, which changes the MMT
two theories about TL (holographic theory)
the brain is wired like a hologram with incident and reference beam (see Restak’s work)
Things that obstruct TL
- oil and make up
- dehydration!!!!
- lotion (natural not as bad)
- lead lined gloves
- synthetic fibers
- anesthetics
2-point TL
can help determine priority
very effective for spine and chapman rlfxs
how to do two point TL
TL makes strong indicator weak, then TL other suspected areas (or reflex) while maintaining the weakened state. If the 2nd TL negates the first, then it’s the priority.
neurovascular as 2nd TL indicates
emotional component to subluxation
What happens when you challenge a vertebrate out of lesion?
myotactic reflex makes vertebrate rebound further into lesion
How do you Challenge?
- Palpate Suspect PL listing
- find strong indicator
- challenge opposite of suspicion
- if strong muscle weakens, adjust in that direction
If strong indicator muscle does not weaken during challenge, what do you do?
challenge in a different direction
Static challenge is used for
anteriors
how do you static challenge?
- palpate vertebrate to determine suspected listing
- find strong indicator muscle
- challenge/push and HOLD the vertebrate in suspected listing
- if strong muscle weakens you adjust opposite.
