Q

Describe how to prepare a 250cm3 standard solution

A

Weigh by difference the mass of the solid acid into a beaker using a mass balance.
Add enough distilled water to the beaker to dissolve the solid.
Transfer the solution to a volumetric flask using a funnel
rinse.
Transfer any residue from the beaker funnel into the volumetric flask.
Add distilled water up to the graduation line on the flask
as you approach the graduation line add water dropwise using a pipette and ensure the bottom of the meniscus lines up exactly with the mark.
Stopper the flask and mix by inversion.
