Titrations Flashcards
1
Q
What is a titration?
A
Volumetric analysis using the volume and concentration of one reactant to determine the concentration of another solution
2
Q
How do we show when the equivalence point has been reached?
A
- Reaction is complete
- And an INDICIATOR is used
3
Q
What are the steps (wishy washy) of a titration?
A
- Known volume of solution (20 or 25cm^3) placed in conical flask using volumetric / graduated pipette
- Other solution in burette
- Few drops of indicator added to conical flask
- Tap on burette opened and carefully added til indicator changes colour
- Multiple trials carried out til concordant results are reached
