Titration Method Flashcards
Step 1 of a titration
1) Rinse volumetric pipette with distilled water and rinse conical flask
Step 2 of a titration
2) Add our known solution volume into the conical flask
Step 3 of a titration
3) Rinse the burette with distilled water + a little bit of known solution then proceed to fill the burette with a funnel until it’s above the 0 mark then take the funnel out
Step 4 of a titration
4) Open up the tap and drain until below 0cm3, if air bubbles are trapped you keep draining
Step 5 to a titration
5) Read off initial reading at eye level from the bottom of the meniscus once it’s attached to the burette stand
Step 6 to a titration
6) Add indicator to the conical flask
Step 7 to a titration
7) Place on top of a white tile
Now the rough trail run starts - step 8
8) Slowly decant until you reach a rough end point and read off
Step 9 to a titration
9) Rinse out the conical flask + refill
Step 10 to a titration
10) Read off initial reading at eye level
Step 11 to a titration
11) Quickly add until 2 cm3 above end point
Step 12 to a titration
12) Slowly dropwise until a permanent colour change
Step 13 to a titration
13) Read off the final reading before re-setting up
What do you look for within titration values?
The titres should be within 0.1cm3 of each other = concordant. If not concordant it should be repeated until you reach concordant results
