Q

Describe the practical for finding titrations

A
  1. Measure out a set volume of the alkali using a pipette into a flask
  2. Fill burette with a standard solution of acid
  3. Use burette to add acid to the alkali bit by bit and swirl the flask regularly
  4. When all the alkali has been neutralised the indicator changes colours
  5. Phenolphthalein is pink in alkalis but colourless in acids
  6. methyl orange is yellow in alkalis but red in acid
  7. Record the volume of acid use to neutralize the alkali
  8. Repeat this process making sure you get very similar results
