Concentration Flashcards
1
Q
what is concentration?
A
- the more crowded the molecules are the more concentrated the solution
2
Q
what is concentration mesured in
A
g/dm3
3
Q
25g of copper sulphate is dissolved in 500cm3 of water.
what is the concentration in g/dm3
A
- Convert volume to dm2 (500) /100 = 0.5dm3
- Mass / Volume; 25 /0.5 = 50g/dm3
4
Q
what is the equation for concentration
A
concentration =mass of solute/ volume of solution
5
Q
Describe the practical for finding known concentration
Make 250 cm2 of a 314 g/dm3 solution of sodium Chloride
A
- Find out how many grams of the solute needed using mass = concentration x volume
- 314 g/dm3 x 0.25dm3=78.5g
- Weigh out mass
- Add deionized water to the beaker and stir till the solute has disolved
