Tissues And Cell Modification Flashcards
It bind structure together, form a framework and support for the organs and the body as a whole.
Connective Tissue
A fibrous connective tissue that attaches muscle to bone.
Tendons
Flexible fibrous connective tissue that connects 2 bones.
Ligaments
Lining of tract organs and other hollow organs. Structure through which the tissue is found.
Epithelial Tissue
Air sacs of the lungs; blood vessels; heart
Simple Squamos Epithelial Tissue
Skin; vagina; esophagus; mouth
Stratified Squamos Epithelial Tissue
Kidney tubules; glands; surface of ovary
Coboidal Epithelial Tissue
Digestive tract; gall bladder; excretory ducts of some glands.
Simple Columnar Epithelial Tissue
Bronchi; trachea; some portions of the uterus
Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelial Tissue
Linkage of muscles and bones
Fibrous Connective Tissue
Composed of cells that have the special ability to shorten or contract in order to produce movement of the body parts.
Muscle Tissue
Fibers: striated, tubular and multi-nucleated. Usually attached to skeleton.
Skeletal Muscle
Fibers: non-striated, spindle-shaped and uninucleated. Usually covering wall of internal organs.
Smooth Muscle
Fibers: striated, branched and uninucleated. Only covering wall of the heart.
Cardiac Muscle
Found in the brain, spinal cord and nerves. It is responsible for coordinating and controlling many body activities.
Nervous Tissue
